DirtWise Off Road Training
The Shane Watts Dirt Wise School is coming to MCMA! For those of you who don't know, Shane Watts is one of only three men to win the ISDE over all, a World Enduro title, and a GNCC National Title. He has also won multiple Australian Motocross championships. He dominated our GNCC's one year to a point where he actually ran a different KTM at every race just to show he could win on all of them. Imagine taking down the best riders in America on a 125cc two stroke!!!
We have locked in two dates for the class.
- Saturday & Sunday May 24-25, 2008
- Monday (Memorial Day) & Tuesday May 26th & 27th
If you are interested, please fill out the complete form in the February All The Dirt newsletter and mail or fax it in. (Fax and address are on the form.) You can also fill out the form online.
Question??? Please call Peter Giusti.

Save the club a few $$$ on printing and postage. This is the second month of email newsletters to those who signed up. So far about 85+ members have said yes to email newsletters, some said no and that's OK, no worries. The rest of you who want newsletters by email and haven't already responded, you can send me a message with your name and club numbers to this link...Newsletter Email and I will put you on the list.
Trail Conditions...are PRIMO!
After a month of waiting the skies have parted long enough to open the Ranch on Saturday, 2/16. Much has changed since the New Year's Day Hare Scrambles. All the wide trails have been groomed by Sil and several "adjustments" were made along the way to make a few areas more interesting, safer and better for maintenance. The results are PRIMO conditions that may only last a few days depending on the current weather. If you have a chance definitely get out and enjoy. Be mindful of new CLOSED signs spread around where adjustments have been made. The Trails Committee is still working on hay and seeding areas that are no longer in use so if you come to a crossroads where a new route takes off ina different direction than the old route you should see a closed sign nearby on the old route.
Winter Closures...Stuff you Need to Know
Rain is here...no need for a weather forecast. It has been raining. Who know how much more rain we will have but one thing we do know for sure, it will probably keep raining off and on over the next couple of months and when it does riding at the Ranch will be closed for periods of time depending on how much rain and how many days of rain. So, whenever there is 1/2" (0.50") of rain or more in one day we are required to close the Ranch to riding for a certain period of time (depends upon how much rain fall). The trails committee does whatever it can to get at least some portion of the trail system open once a dry period occurs.
Things you need to know if you are new or have a selective memory:
1) When it rains and you want to ride, call the Ranch Hotline (415) 455-5418 to see if the trails are open or closed.
2) If you are caught riding while the Ranch is closed, you will be suspended or possibly have your membership terminated.
3) When the Ranch does open during the winter, stay on the OPEN trails
4) Ride cautiously. Conditions change big time during the winter. Trails move, or are washed out, roots and mud are slickery and bad things can happen in a big hurry.
