PEOPLE INTERESTED IN JOINING need to come to a general meeting to apply to be put on a Membership request list, as openings for membership become available, people on the list will be contacted, firt on list , first one contacted. There will be a $25 fee for placement on the list. A lottery at the meeting will choose the placement of the applicants present that meeting. Placement on the Membership Request List is in no way a membership.
- The Marin County Motorcycle Association (MCMA) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization.
- We Maintain a modest sized trail riding area. We are a club, not a riding facility or race promoter.
- When contacted from the Membership request list, come to three meetings at the Elks Club, 7078 Redwood Blvd. Novato. The meetings start at 7:30pm, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every Month.
- The Gambonini Ranch Riding Facility - 1403 Marshall - Petaluma Rd.
To get to the ranch for Work Parties: From Hwy 101 in Novato, take the Atherton Ave. /San Marin Drive exit. Go west, On San Marin Dr. (East is Atherton Ave.). Continue on San Marin Dr., Make a Right turn on Novato Blvd., follow the road until it ends. Turn Right On Petaluma /Point Reys Rd., then 1/4 mile Turn Left on Hicks Valley Rd., follow the road until it ends. Turn Left On Marshall / Petaluma Rd. The Riding Facility is on the Left, past the Gambonini's home. Please do not disturb the Gambonini's, you will see other people in the parking lot.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Outlined below is some general information about joining the club when contacted, and the membership types available. If you have any questions, ask any one of the officers seated at the front of the room during the general meeting.
- Complete an application You will need to have two active members sponsor you. They do not need to be present at the time you turn your application in, however, you will need them before you can be voted in as a member of MCMA. A $25.00 filling fee (non-refundable) is required when an application is turn in. Bring your completed application to the club treasurer and pay the $25.00 fee and have your application stamped. Hand your stamped application to the Vice President.
- After you have turned in your application, you are required to attend three general meetings, at least two of which be in a row. At each meeting your application will be read aloud to the general membership, and you will be asked to standup and tell a little bit about yourself.
- This is referred to as a "Reading.." Besides the three readings, you are also required to attend one work party at the club property. These are held the first Sunday of each month. They start at 9:00 AM and are over usually by Noon.
- The work parties are an excellent opportunity to meet some of the general members and find a sponsor..!
- You must complete the above requirements within a two months of your application date, or your application will be removed from the files and you will need to start the process over. This is negotiable under special circumstances and a club officer has been notified ahead of time.
- At your third "Reading" the general membership will vote on your application. At least one sponsor must be present for the vote. Make sure your sponsors are at your 3rd meeting.
- After you've been voted in and performed your work party, obtain your completed application from the Vice President. Take this to the Gate duty chairman and choose a gate duty date (Skip this step for an associate membership). You then see the treasurer and pay your dues and gate duty deposit. (Not required for associate membership). Finally, with receipt in hand, see the membership chairman who will have you sign the club liability waiver and assumption of risks agreements. You will be provided a membership card and a new member packet.
Upon completion of the above steps, you will be a member of the MCMA!

EXPLANATION OF TERMS:
Dues - For the first year dues are pro-rated according to the month you are voted in. After the first year, dues must be paid in full by July 31st. There is no grace period. Dues are not refundable and Associated dues are not pro-rated.
Gate Duty/Work Party Deposit - Members with ranch riding privileges are obligated to perform one gate duty and attend two work parties each year. A $50.00 deposit is required to ensure this happens. If you do not meet these obligations the $50.00 deposit is impounded and a new $50.00 fee must be paid before you can renew your membership. This deposit is refundable should you choose to leave the club and are in good standing. The request for a refund must be submitted to the treasurer in writing.
Gate Duty - One gate duty day a year must be performed. This requires that you unlock the ranch at 9:00am and stay at the ranch gate. You must make sure all members sign the gate duty book on entry to the club property, all riders have the required equipment , and in general assure all members are following the posted club rules. You close and lock the ranch gate at 5:00pm.
Gate duties are assigned on weekend days only. Complete instructions are in the gate duty books, and the new member information packets.
Work Parties - Held on the first Sunday of each month (with some exceptions), Club News & News Letter). You must attend two work party days each year. Work parties start at 9:00am and are over with by 12:00 noon. They generally involve trail maintenance on the ranch property.
TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP:
Family Membership - Dues $275 - A group of individuals living in the same household and are related by blood or marriage. Single parents with part-time custody of the minor children qualify for Family Membership. Children 18 or over, must have their own membership. Gate duty and work parties required.Student Membership - Dues $175 - An individual, 18 and over attending school full-time and carrying 12 or more credits. Gate duty and work parties required.
Parent/Minor Membership - Dues - $175 - For riders under 18 years of age, whose parents do not ride. NOTE: A parent or guardian must be present while a minor member is riding on the Ranch property. Gate duty and work parties are required.
Associate Membership - Dues - $25 - An associate member has full membership status except for general ranch riding privileges.
